C:CA manifesto

The environment of Russian contemporary architecture is interpreted as a Matryoshka of concentric landscapes rich of epiphanies. This concept works like a child game, it keeps the wonder and the smartness facing all the fragile potemkin villages built up by humans, as in front of the wideness of nature. The picture resumes the complexity of the mother, thanks to a concentric abstraction starting from big historical urban centres until the natural landscape unfriendly for human staying. Those landscapes are based on a different exposure to media and a different connection with communication facilities. Global connection gets lower and lower entering the rural or industrial districts, even though they represent the hidden soul of the country, that have been feeding its culture, poets and figurative fantasy.
The distance between these situations measures the space that contemporary architecture has to fill. Starting from a disurbanist idea, Russia distinctive feature is to deal with a wide environment, which goes over the city, linking the Esenin’s mythical Rus and the electrified tabula rasa of the industrial dream.
